Welcome Week Activities

Friday, August 21, Noon – 2 PM  and Saturday, August 22, 2-4 pm    Campus Ministry Center Open House  Stop by for some refreshments and learn about the dynamic Christian ministry taking place in the "little blue building" behind Cline Library, providing nourishment for your soul and spirit every night of the week. Worship + Retreats + Alternative Spring Breaks + Bible Studies + Service + Community + a Spiritual Home.

Saturday, August 22nd 5:30 pm Welcome Worship! 

  Join us for worship campus ministry style! Our local Methodist, Presbyterian, United Church of Christ and Disciples churches will also be on hand with information and opportunities for many faith-based opportunities! No plans for Saturday night? We’ll be showing a film, ordering pizza and hanging out afterwards.

Tuesday, August 25th 6 PM Dinner with Community $1.00 dinners United for young adults (18-25 yrs) We gather weekly for a home-cooked meal (vegetarian/vegan options included) and conversation. Following dinner, there are opportunities to linger for conversation and Bible Study. Our 1st study will be The Jesus Way.  Please RSVP at naucm@yahoo.com.

Saturday, August 29th 9:30 – 10:30 AM Why Christian—for people on the edge of faith (Graduate and Nontraditional students and NAU community and friends)  You don’t have to be on the edge of faith—but this conversation/study group is open to students, faculty, staff and community members who are interested in some of the big questions of Christian faith that are often stumbling blocks. We’ll be leaning on resources from theologians, including C.S. Lewis, Douglas John Hall and William Sloan Coffin and mainline Protestant traditions.

12:30 – 2:30 PM Bike Tour of the Urban Trails & Downtown Flagstaff   Loaner bikes available with advance reservations. RSVP at naucm@yahoo.com.

5:30 PM Music is the Message Join us for worship, fellowship and a home-cooked meal!  We will feature a variety of music that you can expect to hear throughout the semester—including jazz, classical guitar, and a variety of vocalists. Our local Methodist, Presbyterian, UCC and Disciples churches will also be on hand with information and opportunities for many faith-based opportunities! No plans for Saturday night? We’ll be showing a film, playing some board games and hanging out afterward.

Sunday, August 30th   3:30 – 7:30 pm The Little Painted Desert Sunset Worship Service View a spectacular sunset and explore the mounds of the famous Painted Desert. About an hour from campus, $5.00 includes a picnic dinner and transportation. Space is limited, so RSVP by emailing naucm@yahoo.com.

Monday, August 31st Just Peace kick-off Documentary on the Immigration Crisis through the lens of Christian Compassion and Human Rights.  6:30 pm--Light Refreshments

Sunday, September 6th--- Labor Day Weekend Hike to Sedona (Bell Rock).  9:00-3:00  Advanced Reservations required because space is limited.  $5.00 fee includes park fee, packed lunch and transportation.  Meet at the Campus Ministry Center at 9:00.

Monday, September 12th 3:45-6:00Join us the 2nd Monday of every month to serve at the Flagstaff Food Kitchen with our partners, First Congregational Church and the folks from the Arizona Daily Sun.

  • Our social activities are based on hospitality. Join us and invite your room-mate,  old  or new friends. All of the activities are open to all NAU students and friends regardless of denomination, beliefs or backgrounds.  Our Saturday evening  worship is fun, casual, mixing ancient traditions w/ new--and it's short!  Even those outside of the Christian tradition may find that it brings renewal, centering, and joy-filled hope!  We hope you'll join us.

            

Little Painted Desert

Sedona Hike Sunday, Sept 6th at 9:00 am - 4:00 pm ish  $5.00 Bell Rock Sedona

 Bell Rock, Sedona  Labor Day Weekend Hike.  Reserve your spot Early.  Email Kathleen at naucm@yahoo.com to hold your spot for 3 days--come into the CMC and pay your $5.00 and complete your registration.  Space limited to 20 people.  


In case of rain, registered participants will receive an email with the delayed start time, or we'll reschedule for Monday, Sept 7th.
